Dunloy are unstoppable as their pre-season gets underway

Match report from Tommy Mc Namee   09/05/2021

Dunloy Reserves 6-0 Ballyrashane-

Dunloy again showed their title credentials as they cruised to victory over a Ballyrashane side that were under the kosh right from the off. Barely 2 minutes had passed when Owen Neeson latched onto a low cross from the left and swept home for the opener. A free kick in the 18th from Hollinger minute tested Newman in the Ballyrashane goal, though  Hollinger’s endeavour would eventually be rewarded as he was sent clear by a superb through ball from Niall McQuillan in the 22nd minute and an emphatic low finish made it 2-0 to the hosts. Hollinger was in irresistible form in the 1st half and a brilliant close range save from the Ballyrashane keeper before the half hour was all that stood between him and his second. Ballyrashane had struggled all half to maintain an effective off-side trap, and were punished again when Caolan Milne broke clear and unselfishly teed up Dunloy’ s number 10, Neil McNicholl for an easy tap in. Right on the stroke of half time, it was 4. Hollinger again was the danger man as he raced down the right and came inside to fire a fierce effort into the bottom left corner to nab his second of the game. Ballyrashane struggled to produce many attacking efforts to trouble McMilligan in the Dunloy goal, with Duane “Pixie” Scott and skipper Benny

Marron expertly marshalling the defence with their guile and experience that would give any attacker in the league difficulties. The Dunloy keeper was eventually tested in the 65th minute and produced a great reflex save down to his left to keep his clean sheet intact. From the resulting corner Dunloy broke clear, and sub Sean Scullion was unfortunate to see his effort slam off the post. The young man would get his chance to be on the scoresheet after Dunloy were awarded a penalty in the 81st minute, and Scullion stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way with a bottom left drive to make it 5. The goal scoring was rounded off by McNicholl who beat the keeper to tuck away his second following a low cross from the left, and capped another emphatic goal scoring display from this young and vibrant Dunloy side. ☘   Pictured is Sean Scullion who made a superb impact off the bench in 2nd half.
