Last Anti-Protocol Rally before Assembly Election held in Bangor

Before the Assembly Elections, the final Anti-Protocol rally was held in Bangor. Several speakers at the
rally included Ben Habib, Jamie Bryson, the DUP leader Jeffery Donaldson, Catherine Hoey and the
TUV leader, Jim Allister.
With a significant election looming and the possibility of there being a Sinn Fein first minister for the first
time in Northern Ireland’s history, unionists have voiced their concerns. If an executive is to be formed,
the largest unionist party will then have to go into government with Sinn Fein as the largest party for the
first time.
The protocol has become a sticking point in forming a government, many unionists believe no executive
should be formed until the protocol is altered or done away with.
